Behind the Mystery

So I bet you're wondering what the point of this whole thing is!  What's the story behind the mystery?

Well, we're fundraising... that's the story. And there are two causes that will be splitting the profits of The Great Handmade Heist evenly.

First, we are raising funds for the Elder family to bring home their son, Noah, who is waiting for them in Taiwan!   

Angie {@the1500treeproject} and her family have raised all the funds they need for the adoption fees... now they just need THREE tickets to Taiwan, and FOUR tickets home!  And they just found out that they will be traveling in July so the timing of this fundraiser is perfect. We will raise funds this month, and next month they will leave to get their son!

The second cause that The Great Handmade Heist is supporting is the Choose Joy Conference. This is an event that I {Emmy, @itsjustemmy} founded in 2013. It is a faith-based conference for people struggling with infertility and/or desiring to grow their family through adoption. The last two conferences have been one day events that were amazing and phenomenal and wonderful. So much so, that we have decided that one day is not enough time. The 2015 conference will be a weekend retreat in Newport Beach, California May 15th and 16th. The funds we raise for Choose Joy will go towards a Scholarship Fund, expenses for the conference {to keep the ticket price as low as possible}, and funds for the raffle {at the end of the conference we raffle off a cash prize to help one attendee grow their family}.
